Short-Term Consultant (STC) — Software Engineer
The World Bank’s South Asia Gender Innovation Lab (SAR GIL) and Development Impact (DECDI) are looking for a talented Software Engineer / Mobile App Specialist to support an exciting initiative to improve women’s safety and commuting experiences on public buses in Dhaka.
This consultancy will focus on adapting an existing commuter-reporting and safety mobile data collection tool for use in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The role includes contextualization, feature enhancements, secure data architecture, and piloting with real commuters.

- Strong experience in mobile application development (React Native, JavaScript/ES6+, Node.js), expertise in secure data management and NoSQL databases (MongoDB/Firebase), testing frameworks (Jest/Mocha), and mobile development tools including Expo, Fastlane, and native iOS/Android integrations.
- Professional proficiency in Bangla and English. Ability to work in Dhaka.
- Experience working with sensitive data or in research/impact evaluation (desirable but not required).
